Dreary, raw, miserable....these are all words you can use to describeThursday's weather across most of the northeastern corner of the nation. Rainwill continue to spread across the mid-Atlantic and southern New EnglandThursday; however, the rain will wait until the afternoon to reach the latterregion. The rain will persist over both of these regions through Thursdaynight. The heaviest rain will wet the eastern mid-Atlantic, including Philadelphia, through early Friday. Up to 2 inches of rain is expected. Most of that rainshould fall by the late evening hours. It is through that time when localizedflash flooding could occur, especially where fallen leaves clog stormdrains.

Gusty winds will add to the misery of the rain along the mid-Atlantic andsouthern New England coasts. The winds will peak up to 50 mph through earlyFriday. Coastal flooding may ensue, as well as damage to tree limbs. You willalso find it difficult to hold onto that umbrella.

Another adjective pertaining to today's weather will be chilly. You candefinitely attach that word to the rain since temperatures throughout themid-Atlantic and southern New England will be held to the 40s and lower 50s.

Across the central Appalachians, highs in the 30s are expected. It is herewhere heavy, wet snow will fall.
