Heavy storms will soak the Gulf Coast and Florida today, mainly during theafternoon. A cold front is stalling from Georgia to northeastern Texas, actingas a trigger for storms. Some tropical moisture is being pulled toward Floridafrom a tropical wave moving into the southern Gulf of Mexico. The moisture willfuel heavy downpours that could cause flooding in low-lying and poor-drainageareas.There will also be a flash flooding risk across the Gulf Coast, including inNew Orleans, Mobile, and Pensacola. On top of the threats of flooding, somestorms may become severe and produce damaging winds over 60 mph. It is not outof the question for the strongest storms to briefly drop hail or spawn atornado.

Meanwhile, a few degrees will be shaved from temperatures as less humid airfilters in north of the front. Storms will help to bring some cooling aswell.
