Prather attended high school in Fargo, N.D. and went on to earn a bachelor's of journalism from the University of Missouri. She has received additional training from Investigative Reporters & Editors and The Poynter Institute. She has covered everything from death penalty trials to growing pains in Twin Cities suburbs.
She has been recognized for her work by the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists and the California News Publishers Association.

Theater
Rohan Preston has been theater critic at the Star Tribune since 1998. He led a Star Tribune team that won an Emmy for a documentary for the historic 2008 elections. He has served on the Pulitzer Prize jury for drama. Before coming to the Star Tribune, he wrote for the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times.

Preus bikes to work all year long from south Minneapolis, where she lives with her family. She plays piano with a classical quintet and owns a quarter horse called Skipper. In summer, Preus spends a lot of time by a lake in Wisconsin. In winter, she plays broomball with a Minneapolis rec league.

He moved to the Twin Cities and joined the Star Tribune in 2013. Ramstad previously worked for The Wall Street Journal in Seoul, Hong Kong and Dallas, and the Associated Press in New York, Washington and Dallas and briefly at the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He grew up in Grinnell, Iowa, where he got a start in journalism at radio station KGRN.
