The upcoming monstrous storm will become extremely strong with a tightlypacked pressure gradient. While some parts of the Northeast will receive snowand others rain, the entire region will get blasted by strong winds.Winds will gust to or past 50 mph throughout a large portion of the Northeast.
Widespread tree damage and power outages are sure to result. Where extensivedamage occurs, be prepare for the power outages to last a week. Buildings andvehicles will also suffer damage, including due to falling trees.
The winds will significantly blow and drift the storm's heavy snow. Travel willextremely difficult as crews have trouble keeping roads clear. Officials maydeem conditions too dangerous and close roads.
The area most prone to this lies across the higher terrain of northern NewEngland and from central New York to northwestern New Jersey. During the heightof the storm, the snow will be falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Itis also across this zone where winds will gust to 70 mph.
The storm will also whip up winds to 70 mph along the New England coast. Severecoastal flooding will blast the beaches, especially at the time of high tide.
On the other hand, blowout tides caused by offshore winds may pose problems forcoastal waterway interests from New Jersey to North Carolina.
