Class 1A, No. 6 St. Paul United shut out Class 1A, No. 9 South St. Paul 3-0 in girls' hockey Tuesday at Doug Woog Arena.

Following a scoreless first period, St. Paul United scored less than two minutes into the second period, when sophomore forward Jenna Hoops found the net late in a power play that carried over from the first period.

She added her second goal of the game in the third period with another power-play goal, Hoops' ninth goal of the season, second on the team behind senior Samantha Burke's 11.

Late in the second period, St. Paul United added to its lead when sophomore forward Sophia Hoppe scored through the legs of Packers senior goalie Kaity McKenzie.

White Bear Lake 2, Eastview 1 (OT): Sydney Shearen scored her second goal of the game 2:02 into overtime to give the Bears a victory over the host Lightning. Shearen tied the score 1-1 with 2:39 left in the second period. Kati Quaintance got the Lightning on the board first 5:51 into the second period.

Boys' hockey

Providence Academy 5, Waconia 4 (OT): Jacob Giesler scored 28 seconds into overtime to give the Lions a victory over the visiting Wildcats. The Wildcats forced the extra session when Max Stangret scored with 10 seconds left.

Stillwater 1, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 0: Jack Sullivan broke a scoreless tie with 7:48 left in the third period to give the Ponies the victory over the visiting Lumberjacks. Jesse Brown stopped 27 shots for the shutout.

Boys' basketball

Eden Prairie 89, Burnsville 80: Drake Dobbs and Austin Andrews scored 22 points each to lead the Class 4A, No. 8 Eagles past the visiting Blaze. Ty Miklowski led the Blaze with 18 points.

Girls' basketball

Minneapolis South 84, Burnsville 60: Morgan Hill surpassed 2,000 points for her career with a game-high 33 to lead the visiting Tigers past the Blazers. Paige Servais scored 15 points to lead the Blaze.

Faribault coach resigns: Faribault girls' swimming coach Ken Hubert announced his retirement Monday; he just completed his 34th season. Hubert will be inducted into the Minnesota State Swim Coaches Hall of Fame in May.

Champlin Park football coach resigns: Champlin Park football coach Mike Korton announced his resignation Tuesday. Korton has a 98-55 record in 15 seasons as a coach.

Milestone: Cooper junior Aja Wheeler scored 16 points in Cooper's 69-36 victory over Holy Family on Monday to surpass 1,000 points for her career.
