Star Tribune sports writers and editors again received several top annual honors from America's leading sports editors organization for their work in 2020. The Associated Press Sports Editors judges gave the Star Tribune highest honors ("Top 10") for its overall digital sports content, Sunday sports sections and sports special editions.

Winning three APSE Top 10 honors earns a news organization the prestigious Triple Crown award. This is the second consecutive year the Star Tribune won the Triple Crown.

The Star Tribune was one of five sports departments to earn three or more Top 10 honors in the large-size media category, joining the Washington Post and The Advocate/Times-Picayune in New Orleans with three each, while the Los Angeles Times and Seattle Times won four.

In addition, Star Tribune high school sports reporter Jim Paulsen earned a Top 10 writing award for his profile in July of Minneapolis North football coach Charles Adams.

Star Tribune photographers Anthony Soufflé and Jerry Holt also were honored by APSE. Soufflé won the feature photo competition, placing first with his underwater portrait of Hutchinson High School swimmer Grace Hanson. Holt earned two Top 10 honors, one in the action photo competition and another in the feature category.
