St. Paul police are investigating a homicide in the Frogtown neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Police were called to a residence at the 300 block of Blair Avenue about 5:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting, according to Sgt. Natalie Davis. There they found a man gravely injured in the front of the home with gunshot wounds.

He was transported to Regions Hospital, where he died. Adults and small children were in the residence, according to Davis. A couple of hours after the homicide, firefighters were called to put out a small fire in the basement.

Police are asking anyone with information to call homicide units at 651-266-5650. Callers can remain anonymous.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death and identify the man. No one is in custody and police are working to identify a motive.

This is the third homicide in 10 days. Last year, the city logged a record 38 homicides.
