After days of heavy rain and flooding, central Europe may be in for anotherround of storms next week.A weak front will cross central Europe Tuesday, but a stronger front willarrive later in the week.

Before the storm reaches into central Europe, however, it will pass throughFrance as the weekend ends, possibly affecting the final matches at the FrenchOpen.

A second storm system will sweep through the continent next week, affectingwestern Europe first before it moves into central Europe.

Western Europe could see 2-3 inches of rain with this storm next week.

Thunderstorms and pockets of heavy rain can help bring large amounts of rain ina short period.

Combined with the widespread nature of the storm, this quick rainfall couldcause flash flooding, which now shifts flooding concerns farther to the west,including parts of France, northern Spain and western Germany.

As for central Europe, the storm can bring locally heavy rain to the areasalready devastated by flooding. While widespread flooding isn't anticipated,there may be enough for localized flash flooding.

The rain amounts in central and eastern Europe with this late-week stormwill be light in most areas, but there may be thunderstorms that can unleashlocally heavier amounts of rain in a short time period.

Heavy rain soaked Europe this week, including Hungary, Slovakia and theCzech Republic, where flooding killed three people. Thousands were evacuated asrivers burst their banks and roads became impassable.
