• You rushed for 184 yards and three TDs in the season opener. Nice way to start.

It was a pretty big game for me. The funny thing is that I was hurt that week. I had a hip pointer and it was still pretty sore that day.

• We you worried that you might not play? I was nervous about it. My physical therapist said I couldn't injure it any more. It was just about how much pain I could take. Once the game started, I didn't feel it unless someone landed on me.

• How long have you played football for New Life?

They started the football team when I was in eighth grade. I got called up that year and I've been on the varsity ever since.

• Does that make this season special? Yes, it does. It hit me before our game Friday. I've been here the whole time. We're not a new program anymore. I've dedicated this season to all of the players who have played before me.

• Why is football important to you? It's a game unlike any other. There's no feeling like playing football. It's a beautiful game. When all 11 guys are working together for one goal, that's beautiful.

• Your first football memory?

In fourth grade, I was playing offensive line. I pulled and I hit the outside linebacker. It was my first real hit. I knew right then and there I would be playing this game for a while.

• Pregame tradition: When my name is called in the pregame, I come out of the tunnel and I let out a big scream. I call it a roar.
