Annis, Dais July 25, 1923 - July 27, 2020 Born in Detroit, Michigan as Daisy Annis, daughter of Greek immigrants who settled in Detroit in 1920. Went to business school after graduating from high school and became a secretary. In 1947, travelled with her mother to Athens, Greece to meet her relatives. While there she met and married Spyro Spiteri, a Greek citizen, and moved back together to the Detroit area. They had one daughter, Paula Spiteri. Later in life Daisy dropped the "y" from her name and became Dais. She entered an entirely new career as an art consultant and art dealer. She sought out new and emerging artists and represented their work in sales to interior designers. She also became a docent at the Detroit Institute of Art, making presentations to children in the Detroit public schools. Her contribution to the DIA for 20 years was her proudest accomplishment. In her retirement she was a snowbird traveling back and forth between Michigan and Florida. While living in Florida, she volunteered to tutor reading to elementary students at local schools. In 2013 she moved to St. Louis Park, MN to be near her daughter and grandson. She was living at Parkshore Senior Community memory care unit when she died of natural causes at aged 97. At the end, she still thankfully remembered her immediate family. She lived a full life and was always generous even in the end as she donated her body to the University of MN Anatomy Bequest program. Her philosophy was that she might as well help others with her body after she was gone since she would no longer need it. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers from Lifesprk and staff at Parkshore Senior Community for taking care of her. She will be missed by her loving daughter Paula Spiteri, grandson Alex Wasser and great grandson, Luka Wasser as well as many friends around the country.
