Abelleira, Maria Maria passed peacefully into life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 95. She will be deeply missed by all her loving family and friends. Maria was a Cuban immigrant who along with her husband and 2 children, fled communist Cuba for a better life in the United States. She always loved and was very involved with children as a kindergarten teacher in Cuba, a child care teacher in Dubuque, Iowa, and with her grand and great-grand children. Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband Aldo, her mother and father, sister and 2 brothers. Survived by her sons Aldo and Juan (Margaret), her grandchildren Aaron (Randie), Emily Hansen (Daniel), Anthony and Josie; great- grandchildren Isabelle, Greta, Audrey, Errol, Winnie and Victor Carlos. Special thanks to Copperfield Hill Assisted Living, Sholom West nursing home and Hennepin Healthcare Foundation (hospice) for the excellent and loving care they provided for Maria in the last months of her life. A celebration of Maria's life will be held at Washburn-McReavy, Glen Haven Chapel, on Saturday October 12 at 10am. Lunch immediately following the service.
