A massive brush fire completely destroyed one beachfront home and damagedtwo others on Sunday afternoon in the Oakwood Beach area of Staten Island. Atotal of 30 houses were evacuated as a precaution, interrupting some Eastercelebrations. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire wascontained by late Sunday.While the start of the fire is still being investigated, gusty winds in thearea played a role in fanning and spreading the fire. Winds gusted as high as40 mph at New York City's JFK International Airport on Sunday afternoon.
