A storm bringing heavy snow to Scotland has dumped more than than a foot ofpowder already, with more continuing to fall through the day on Friday.Parts of northeastern Scotland could see another foot or more of snow on top ofthe current snow base through tomorrow evening, when snow showers will begin totaper.

The heaviest snow will end by Friday evening.Conditions will be less severe along coastal regions, but the mountains couldend up with 2 feet of snow from the last two storms.

Farther inland, blizzard conditions are being reported as heavy winds and snowshowers stranded more than 80 motorists Wednesday night in Aberdeenshire.

BBC reported that many roads have been closed in Aberdeenshire, and hundreds ofschools throughout the Highlands have been shut.

Snowfall in Aviemore jumped from 4 inches to 19 inches since Wednesday.

The storms seen in Scotland resemble a similar southern track affecting theeastern U.S.

England will see heavy rain tonight into tomorrow as a result of the samesystem. London is feeling milder air, hitting 50 degrees F yesterday for onlythe second time since winter began in December.

MeteoGroup out of the United Kingdom reported that England, Wales, Scotland andNorthern Ireland all had their coldest winter season for more than 30years.
