The storm destined to soak a large part of the East Coast this weekend willtake shape south of Texas tonight. The storm will then move into the westernGulf of Mexico Friday, where disruption to oil production may take place.The showers encompassing most of Texas today will evolve into steadier rainacross central and South Texas tonight. Rain will continue to pour down Friday,likely leading to flash flooding.

Urban and low-lying areas, as well as places along small streams, would be thefirst to become inundated with floodwater. Parts of interstates 10, 35 and 37may be impacted. Remember, never put your life in danger by driving through aflooded roadway.

For South Texas, the threat Friday will shift from heavy rain to severethunderstorms. Enough instability will be present that thunderstorms capable ofproducing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes ignite.

High pressure will return drier weather to Texas this weekend as the stormdrops drenching rain on the East Coast.
