A massive severe weather outbreak occurred on this date in 1991, bringing 58killer tornadoes from Clearwater to Wichita to Cassoday, Kan. McConnell AFB wasdevastated, and mobile homes were destroyed in Andover. The tornado that hitAndover was on the ground for 70 miles and killed 13 people. Altogether thestorms and tornadoes killed 24 people and injured hundreds of others. A newscamera was caught under a bride overpass by another tornado along the Kansasturnpike.
