It will be evenwarmer on Thursday over a wide area due to warm air sweeping in from the southand west.At Beijing, the temperature topped 80 degrees on Wednesday, a normal high of65 notwithstanding. A similar high was experienced on Thursday.

Likewise, in Harbin, a city renowned for its bitter winter cold, the highwas in the low 70s on Wednesday. The city approached the 80-degree markThursday even though the normal high is near 50 degrees.

Cooling will reach the northeast on Friday, yet the heart of northern Chinawill have unusual warmth right into next week.
