Castelluccio Le More Romagna Sangiovese

Lovers of Chianti — and those who merely like it — should be looking beyond Tuscany for dandy sangiovese. It is, after all, the most planted grape in all of Italy. The Castelluccio Le More Romagna Sangiovese Superiore 2016 ($12) emanates from Emilia-Romagna (think Parma and Bologna), and what's inside the bottle is as gorgeous as the label. This is a crazy-good food wine, with its black and red berry flavors (also illustrated on that label) dancing delightfully between ripe and tart. The pairing possibilities for this red gem are nigh onto endless: pizza, pasta with tomato or creamy or savory sauces, spring salads (with berries!), etc., etc.

Available at Cork Dork, Sentyrz, Cotroneo's, the Wine Shop and Central Ave Liquors.
