Boys' hockey

Elk River 4, Lakeville North 2: Nick Perbix scored two goals to lead the Class 2A, No. 2 Elks past the No. 9 Panthers at the Sports Authority Holiday Classic. Connor Bizal and Nate Horn also scored for the Elks. Tommy Klans and Spencer Schneider gave the Panthers an early two-goal lead.

Maple Grove 1, Holy Family 0: Hunter House scored seven minutes into the third period as the Class 2A, No. 13 Crimson defeated the No. 6 Fire in the Sports Authority Holiday Classic. Ethan Haider finished with 29 saves for the Crimson. Jared Moe had 19 saves for the Fire.

Delano 6, Roseville 5 (OT): Ben Meyers scored three goals, including the game-winner 1:40 into overtime, to lead the Class 1A, No. 1 Tigers past the Raiders for third place at the Hilltopper Holiday Classic in Duluth. Kyle Ylitalo, Brian Halonen and Sam Voss also scored for the Tigers. Matthew Leahy, Cody Barrett, Nathan Bifulk, Luke Irwin and Nathan Boss scored for the Raiders.

Minneapolis 2, Hudson (Wis.) 1: Minneapolis goalie Preston Holt stopped 44 shots to beat Hudson, the top-ranked boys' hockey team in the state of Wisconsin, in the Schwan Cup Bronze Division quarterfinals. Minneapolis was outshot 45-14 by Hudson. Huck Sorock scored both Minneapolis goals. Gornick Grady scored Hudson's lone goal.

Breck 4, Cretin-Derham Hall 1: The Mustangs scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Raiders in the Schwan Cup Silver Division quarterfinals. Carter Breitenfeldt, Austin Heidemann, Mitch Machlitt and Evan Beniek scored for the Mustangs, ranked No. 4 in Class 1A. Grayson Milosch scored for the Raiders.

Buffalo 5, Mahtomedi 2: The unranked Bison jumped out to a five-goal lead midway through the second period to upset the Class 1A, No. 6 Zephyrs in the Schwan Cup Silver Division quarterfinals. Blake Habisch opened the scoring for Buffalo with two goals in the first, before Nick Mueller, Cal James and Treyton Welch added to the lead. Colin Hagstrom and Luke Posner later scored for Mahtomedi.

Mounds View 3, Anoka 0: Brody Aufderheide stopped 29 shots for the Mustangs to shut out the Tornadoes in the Schwan Cup Silver Division quarterfinals. Wyatt Thole, Channing Cole and Cole Jacobs scored for Mounds View.

Girls' hockey

Eden Prairie 5, Benilde-St. Margaret's 0: The Eagles' Alexa Dobchuk stopped 16 shots to shut out the Red Knights in the third-place game at the Mid-Winter Meltdown. Rachel DeCesare, Naomi Rogge, Emily McLaughlin, Olivia Sabin and Kasandra Bienkowski scored for the Eagles, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A.

Eagan 5, Chaska/Chanhassen 2: The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-1 after the first, and got two more goals from Taylor Anderson, to defeat the Storm Hawks for fifth place at the Mid-Winter Meltdown. Maddie Mason, Jenna Ruiz and Megan Plaschko also scored for the Wildcats. Lydia Passolt had both goals for Chanhassen.

Hill-Murray 6, Bloomington Jefferson 2: Katie Kaufman had a goal and two assists to lead the Class 2A, No. 5 Pioneers past the Jaguars at the Kaposia Classic Invitational. Nina Steigauf, Haylee Blinkhorn, Abigail Boreen, Corrine Brown and Alex Belde also scored for Hill-Murray. Rachel Geist and Bailey Burton scored for Jefferson.

Elk River/Zimmerman 2, Mounds View 1 (OT): Raelyn Korinek scored the game-winner in overtime to lead the Class 2A, No. 4 Elks past the No. 14 Mustangs at the Kaposia Classic. Reilly Springman gave the Elks a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Mustangs' Audrey Jackson tied the game in the second.

Boys' basketball

Champlin Park 101, Woodbury 70: McKinley Wright scored 34 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 1 Rebels past the Royals at the Granite City Classic in St. Cloud. Theo John and Josiah Strong finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Jeremiah Coddon scored 21 points for the Royals, and Nolan Glunz added 20.

Maple Grove 85, Lakeville South 65: Jack Hutchison scored 24 and Tywhon Pickford added 22 to lead the Class 4A, No. 7 Crimson past the Cougars at the Granite City Classic. Brad Davison finished with 20 points. The Cougars were led by Shae Mitchell with 23, Boston Mast had 17 and Jack Sorenson 11.

Wayzata 86, Cretin-Derham Hall 70: Jacob Beeninga scored 27 points to lead the unranked Trojans past the Class 4A, No. 9 Raiders at the St. Thomas Invitational. Ryan Lindberg added 18 points for the Trojans. The Raiders were led by Daniel Oturu with 21 points, while Jaeden King and Jake Prince scored 19 apiece.

Girls' basketball

Maranatha 73, Annandale 70 (OT): The Class 1A, No. 2 Mustangs scored 51 points after halftime, including 10 in overtime, to defeat the Class 2A, No. 10 Cardinals. Jaclyn Jarnot led the Mustangs with 22 points, Kylie Post added 15. The Cardinals' Kamryn D'Heilly and Hannah Purcell finished with 27 and 24 points, respectively.

Minnehaha Academy 69, Albany 63: Mia Curtis scored 22 points to lead the Class 2A, No. 4 Redhawks past the Huskies. Taytum Rhoades and Terra Rhoades added 17 points apiece. The Huskies were led by Madison Schmitz and Amanda Kollodge with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
