A St. Louis Park police officer shot and killed a man while responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex Saturday evening, authorities said.

Officers responded to the Louisiana Court Apartments, 2760 Louisiana Court S., around 6 p.m. on a report of a verbal domestic dispute between a woman and her child's father, according to emergency dispatch audio. The woman reported that he had multiple warrants out for his arrest.

A dispatcher relayed to officers that some of those warrants from Anoka County noted that he's a "suicide risk," and has "violent tendencies," according to the audio.

Later, an officer yells to dispatchers: "Shots fired! I need medics now!"

Paramedics report that the man suffered three gunshot wounds to the chest. He died at the scene shortly after 6:15 p.m.

The Hennepin County medical examiner will release the man's identity following an autopsy.

No officers were injured in the shooting, said city spokeswoman Jacque Smith. The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard procedure.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
