Cranny, Joseph Patrick was born on May 12, 1964 to Mary Jean and Patrick Cranny in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He passed away September 8, 2017 at his home in Plymouth, Minnesota. The blonde-haired. blue-eyed boy lived in Canton, South Dakota until he was 9 years old and then moved to Tempe, Arizona. Joe graduated from Tempe High School where he had many friends and played a lot of basketball. Joe attended the University of San Diego and graduated with his BA in Business Administration in 1986. After college Joe immediately started working in the insurance industry. Joe was successful in his 30+ years in the industry because of his ability to build solid relationships with staff, agents and clients. Most recently, Joe held the position of Vice President, Minneapolis Branch for CNA. Prior to that he spent 10 years with the Hanover Insurance Group. Joe loved his family and life at the lake. Joe was an excellent cook and passed this love on to many members of his family. Joe really enjoyed making Sunday dinners for Sarah's father, Jim. Joe also enjoyed watching his boys participate in sports. Joe loved golf and his golf trips with friends and family. Joe and Sarah recently built their dream home on Lake Edward just north of Brainerd, Minnesota. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Mary Jean Cranny. Joe is survived by his wife, Sarah and their two sons Luke, a freshman at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and Andrew, is a senior at Wayzata High School. Also survived by his five siblings, Joan Huelsebusch, San Diego, CA; Michael Cranny (Deb), Brainerd, MN; Kathleen Mooney, Dayton, MD; Mary Cranny Paul (Ed), Phoenix, AZ and Tim Cranny (Toni), St. Paul, MN. Joe also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews and in-laws. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Church of St. Mary of the Lake, 105 North Forestview Lane, Plymouth with visitation beginning at 9:30 prior to Mass at church.
