Hockert, George M. Age 79 of Chanhassen, formerly of Oakdale, MN passed away December 6. Born in Alexandria, MN on January 7, 1940. Raised on a farm near Lake Moses. He was baptised and confirmed at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville, MN. Attended Seven Dolors Catholic School for eight years and then Brandon High School and graduated in 1957. George went in to the Army in the fall of 1958. He returned home and started work at Korkowski's Implement in Brandon, MN as a partsman. On June 10, 1961 he married Joan Pischke in Millerville. Together they have four children. While raising his family, George was an active member of the Army Reserves for over 30 years. He continued as a partsman/shop foreman in the trucking industry. George was an avid sports fan and had an uncanny memory for trivial sport's statistics. He loved his Vikings, Twins and attending sporting events that his grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in. He was always up for a good game of cards. He spent his time in the summer caring for his yard and flower beds. In his younger years, he loved to fish, hunt and travel. In retirement, he worked for Enterprise as a chase driver. He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 58 years and his children Pam (Brian) Freese, Cindy Hockert, Sandy (Brian) Gora, George (Rachele) Hockert; his grandchildren he thought the world of include Carlie Freese, Rebecca Freese, Allison (Mitch) Johnson, Blake Hockert, Ariel Olson, Gabby Olson and McKenzie Benson and great grandsons Trey and Travis Sanders; brothers Tom Hockert and Dennis (Randi) Hockert; sisters Carol Bitzen, Mary Ann (Dick) Daas, Linda (Larry) Wittwer; sister in-law Diane Hockert and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents George P. and Rose (Thoennes); brother John; brother in-law James Bitzen and sister in-law Marianne Hockert. Memorial Mass Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Willmar, MN. Visitation one hour prior to Mass.
