Hutchinson, the second-ranked girls' swimming team in the state, rallied to upset No. 1 Visitation on Saturday at Hutchinson, winning 99-87 on the strength on its young swimmers. The Tigers got points from 11 different underclassmen to defeat the four-time defending state champion.
The Tigers took their first lead of the match in the ninth event. The Blazers had the lead after seven of the first eight events and led by 10 points through five events.
Sophomore Lexi Kucera led the way for the Tigers with a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and second-place finish in the 200 individual medley. She also anchored first-place teams in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Eighth-grader Grace Hanson won the 50 freestyle, finished second in the 100 freestyle and swam the first legs of the winning relay teams in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle for the Tigers.
Sophomore Kali Fischer led the Blazers, winning the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, swimming on the winning 200 medley relay and second-place 400 freestyle relay.
Boys' soccer
Minnetonka 6, Owatonna 1: Sergio Rivas had three goals and an assist to lead the Class 2A, No. 7 Skippers past the visiting Huskies. Johnluke Nahorski had two goals and an assist, and Max Honebrink scored for the Skippers.
Girls' soccer
Edina 1, White Bear Lake 0: Maria Boman scored in the second half to give the Hornets an upset victory over the visiting Class 2A, No. 10 Bears. Loli Fidler and Cassie Michel combined to stop 13 shots for the shutout.
Burnsville 6, Rochester Century 0: Maya Hansen scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Class 2A, No. 14 Blaze past the visiting Panthers. Morgan Keirstead had one goal and three assists, and Rachel Waterman and Maddie Anderson had a goal each for the Blaze.
Minnehaha Academy 2, Maranatha/West Lutheran 0: Jo Brown stopped six shots to lead the Class 1A, No. 9 Redhawks past the visiting Mustangs. Sara Bakke and Eva Larson scored for the Redhawks.
