A motorcycle rider was killed Saturday in a crash with a sedan on County Road 50 near Hampton in southern Dakota County, the State Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m. when the driver of an Oldsmobile Alero stopped at the bottom of an exit ramp on southbound Hwy. 52 and pulled forward in an attempt to cross County Road 50. The Alero's driver had an obstructed view as the car pulled onto the county road, according to the State Patrol report. The motorcyclist, riding a Harley-Davidson westbound on County Road 50, broadsided the sedan and was thrown from his cycle, the patrol reported.

The names of the drivers and any further details have not been released. The patrol had no information on the condition of the driver of the Alero. Road conditions were dry at the time, the patrol said.

Hampton is just southeast of Farmington.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
