Michigan won eight of 10 matches, earning bonus points in three of them, on its way to a 30-7 victory over the Gophers in a Big Ten wrestling dual on Sunday at Maturi Pavilion.

The eighth-ranked Wolverines (7-2, 4-1 Big Ten) received a win by fall from Stevan Micic at 133 pounds, a technical fall from Domenic Abounader at 184 and a major decision from Myles Amine at 174. Michigan also got an upset victory at 125, when No. 13 Drew Mattin edged No. 4 Ethan Lizak 4-2 in a second tiebreaker.

The highlight for the 13th-ranked Gophers (5-3, 2-2) was 10th-ranked Nick Wanzek's 14-8 victory over No. 5 Logan Massa at 165. Minnesota's other win was Tommy Thorn's 12-4 major decision over Sal Profaci at 141.

"Losing the close ones can be a little frustrating," Gophers coach Brandon Eggum said. "We had opportunities today and couldn't come up big in some close matches that we feel we could have won today. We know losing this dual isn't what we wanted, but we know when March comes around we will be using these moments to become better."
