Gophers update: The Gophers (21-10) had a season-high 30-point first quarter in a 91-75 victory over Northern Iowa on Friday. Playing without Jasmine Brunson — who suffered a nose injury in the Big Ten tournament and remains questionable — the Gophers got 29 points from Destiny Pitts, 22 and a career-high 12 assists from Kenisha Bell and a career-high 14 points from freshman Mercedes Staples, who started in Brunson's place. The Gophers and Cincinnati, who have never met, had two common opponents this season. Both lost to Ohio State and both had one-sided victories over Xavier. Pitts has now scored 20 or more points in eight straight games. In her past three she has averaged 26.7. Bell has scored in double figures in all but two games this season.

Bearcats update: Cincinnati (22-10) advanced with a 76-62 victory over Youngstown State on Thursday. It was victory No. 200 for coach Michelle Clark-Heard, who is in her ninth season.
