One of golf's hottest young stars, Bryson DeChambeau, is the first player committed to the 3M Open, the Twin Cities' new PGA Tour event.

DeChambeau, 25, is ranked fifth in the world and won four times this year, including a victory at Jack Nicklaus' Memorial Tournament and consecutive FedExCup playoff events, the Northern Trust and Dell Technologies Championship.

He finished third in the FedExCup standings and played for the U.S. Ryder Cup team in France.

New 3M Open tournament director Peter Mele called DeChambeau part of a "new generation" of PGA Tour stars in announcing the commitment.

The first 3M Open, with a 156-player field, will be July 1-7 at the TPC of the Twin Cities in Blaine.
